Installing the Device Manager for Windows (.msi)

Purpose:
To install the Device Manager for Windows on an end users machine such as a workstation, PC or laptop.

Prerequisites:
- Local Administrator credentials
- Workstation, PC or Laptop has access to the internet
- Your Device Manager for Windows URL that was provided in the welcome email
If you have misplaced your welcome email, please reach out to support@bitsolutions.com.au and we'll be happy to provide the URLs you require to get started.
Reason:
The Device Manager allows connectivity between the RMM solution and the workstation this is being installed on to allow it to be managed remotely, such as
- Monitoring metrics (Disk Space, CPU, Memory)
- Reviewing Events that have occurred
- Receiving alerts
- Remote Management (RDP)
- Remote Tools

Steps:
- Download the software using the link that was provided to you in the welcome email.
- Copy the installer either onto a network share, or a USB drive that the intended device is able to reach
- Extract the .zip file



You will now be provided with a folder and its contents that looks similar to below;



Double click DMInstaller to begin the installation, you may be prompted with a User Account Control (UAC) to ask if you wish to proceed. You will notice that the verified publisher is Barracuda Networks, Inc. this is the vendor of the RMM in use, Barracuda RMM

Click Yes to continue



Once you've continued through the process, you should be met with a pop up window that says Installation Succeeded



You should now be able to see your device checking in under Status --> Devices



If you're a recipient of alerts, you would have been notified via email that a new device has been discovered and added to your environment by checking the Status --> Alerts section;

Did you receive the following error?
It may be because you didn't run the installer as a Local Administrator


You can remedy this by holding shift and right clicking DMInstaller
Click on Run as different user
Populate the Username and Password box with a Local Administrator credentials.
